Craft Your Own Sock Puppet A Fun DIY Project

We live in an era where kids prefer to spend hours and playing on their smartphones rather than building a Lego booth or creating elaborate stories for Barbie. What happened to the good old days when children played with toys that stimulated their imagination? If you want to recreate these days for your child, we have a project to get you started: make a sock doll!

What you need:

Mature Size Sock
inexpensive Ping Pong Ball – two in total; white works best
Washable marker
Permanent Marker Black
Glue gun
Black Felt
Scissors

What to do:

Pull the sock over your hand and form a mouth with your thumb and fingers.
With the washable marker, have your child mark two places where the doll’s eyes are and draw an oval in which the inside of the mouth is located.
Remove the Sock. Use the glue gun to apply glue to the places where the eyes will be placed.
Ask your child to draw eyeballs on the table tennis balls with the permanent marker, and then push the eyes into the glue.
Ask your child to cut out of the black felt an oval of the same size as the one he drew to mark the inside of the doll’s mouth.

Use the glue gun to attach The oval to the sock.
Let your child find creative ways to create clothes or a hairstyle for the doll. After all this effort, he will want to keep the doll handy in a safe place, so be sure to put a wooden toy box where it belongs when it is not in use!
